Vase Collection

Gio Ponti's work in architecture and design in the 1920's designing ceramics. His extraordinary career realized the birth of modern classics design. Not only did he inspire and define it, in theory and in practice, his extensive portfolio lives on. His contributions to modern design are vast, unique and make him " the father of modern design."

The Neoponti collection is a special collection of  furniture, furnishing, lamps and silverware designed by Gio Ponti, which I, Matteo Licitra, his grandson, have carefully chosen from his vast output. I wanted to reproduce those objects that are most familiar to me, that have been with me since my childhood.

From architecture to design, from painting to editing, from design ceramics for Richard Ginori in the twenties to the Pirelli Tower, the "superlight chair" and the Planchart Villa of the fifties; to the Cathedral of Taranto and the Denver Museum in the seventies Gioponti has made his mark on the world throughout six decades of this century. The collection pays home to him.

I hope that with the Neoponti Collection in the new millenium people will be able to enjoy the "happy designs" of Gio Ponti in their homes as well as in the museum.
